Sterling Heights' CM Paul Smith responds to calls for his resignation

Someone in Sterling Heights shot this video from tonight's city council meeting off their TV.
Thank you!
Apparently Smith still doesn't know the interview he did voluntarily in 2009 is still on YouTube and has been since the piece was produced.
Then he claims his message was distorted by Channel 4. Ha!

Couple thoughts. He claims he wanted the press attention. That is obvious. He claims that he was there to protest against "Obamacare." Yet there is not one thing on any of those signs that mentions that topic. None. What do comments like "fags," "wetbacks," "bitch" have to do with healthcare other than a hope to deny it to them?
He also mentions that this all happened because of his support of Daniels. How? Was she at the rally too? Because he choose to come to our city in the midst of problems with our mayor and insert himself into the situation? He also clearly doesn't understand youtube.
He says, not unlike our mayor, that he did this BEFORE he was on the council and mentions pranks. This was not a college or high school prank. He said it was done with intent; to get media attention. It was an adult, planned and executed decision. It reflects he and his wife's beliefs. I would not have a photograph of myself with that sign, because it is completely against my beliefs and is abhorrent to me. One can safely assume that if you are willing to hold a sign making inflammatory statements, that you are in agreement with those statements. It is as simple as that.

    1. Yes, by claiming it was a protest against Obamacare he is trying to win points with the majority (I think?) who now are against or have reservations about the Affordable Health Care Act. Being it was held on April 15th this was an anti-tax rally, though his signs were simply his hate spreading social agenda.

Ironicaly, his excuse for his signs was to get the liberal media attention, since in his mind no one was paying enough attention to the Tea Party. Well, the past few days he's gotten plendy of media attention, but he doesn't want it NOW. Gee, Paul Smith, you're just not logical, like your friend Janice Daniels!

  3. Note to Paul Smith and his wife: There is no statute of limitations on public opinion. What, because you were caught on tape, but it was 3 years ago, you should be absolved? You held, in your own hands, made by you, some of the most disgusting, vile, racist, juvenile words and pictures ever seen by most of us. You're even proud of it. So thanks for showing us the real you, the darkest corners of life.

Come on, Janice Daniels, defend away. If we thought we knew how bad you were before, I'm betting we're about to find out more than we ever imagined about you and the crowd you call friends.

  4. Interesting that he admits that as a nonpartisan councilman he shouldn't be attending Tea Party rallies. (He says this in the context of his heinous signs being made and displayed back when he was political activist before he was a councilman.) Janice Daniels should listen to that point. He's right on that!

    1. Yes I noticed that! He says he dosn't hang around that crowd anymore, implying they're too over the top for him now. Not so our Mayor. Plus she probably just thinks his signs were "edgy".

    Judgement day for Paul Smith!

    1. there are no gods. try to remain in the realm of reality; people shall issue judgement upon Smith's judgmental bigotry. I'm sure he is a fan of the book you quote from as well.

    2. I was being ironic, citing a source that they profess (Daniels and probably the Smiths) to take to heart, since they seem to take no regard of what people think.

The first thing from Ecclesiastes that actually came to my mind was when Mrs. Smith was blasting forth her husband's background..."Vanity of vanities", the fool and the wise man, all men come to the same end...Solomon in depression, or in a moment of bleak truth?

What I also realized from Mrs. Smith's blistering attack was the Smiths think much of themselves. After all how many of the other council members had worked for GM for 30 years, served in the Air Force, had a successful career, and been a world traveler? They should have prostrated themselves before him even though he was bringing harm to the city and obstructing governance, I guess!

I think Sterling Heights might be in better shape for getting rid of this guy than Troy with Janice Daniels. First, because the council is united against him, and ALL the diverse residents from all walks of life (except one that had a grudge against another CM) that spoke at their council meeting were eloquent and clear about their disgust with his behavior. None of this bringing in irrelevant national politics that Troy right wing-nut residents ALWAYS inject. They (Sterling Heights residents) seem to know that it is about survival of their city and their city's image. Of course he had one large egregious, execreable scandal. With Janice, we're suffering the slow death of dozens of petty cuts, and she has the support of a faction that would still support her short of being an ax murderer. They'll get rid of Smith either through united council pressure (in private) or plea to governor, probably will not need a recall movement there.

  6. He'll have to be removed through the Governor. He won't resign. He's just as narcissistic as Janice.

He says he doesn't hang around those Tea Party crowds any more - then why is he tied to Janice?
