  1. Mrs. Smith, kindly note that you're holding a sign that says Nancy Pelosi loves fags. Please also note that your husband is holding a sign with the first black President's decapitated head mounted on a spear and the words "shit on a stick".

THAT is why you're being called a homophobe and a racist.

  2. Those signs do not represent family values or patriotism as Mrs. Smith suggests. It is quite the opposite. Their signs depict the assisination of pubic officials and use the terms like fag and wetback. This is American at it's WORST. It is sedition and I don't think because it's 3 years old the authorities should let this lie. How can anyone suggest she is a racist- again no responsibility or accountabilty for bad judgement. She did this to herself by holding that sign in public. She seems very unhinged and she is Janice's best friend.

  3. It wasn't just the sign that made the council call for his resignation, it was his behavior since he was elected and the fact that the others could not work with him. He also defended the signs this week on WDIV.

But remember, per Janice, he doesn't smoke!

  5. I actually feel very sorry for this lady. She is obviously seeing red as they say. I can imagine how upset she is. Unfortunately, she would have been better off to speak from prepared remarks. By not doing so, she threw off some comments that will come back to haunt her. When she claims not to be racist she says "I speak Spanish," and "I worked in Detroit." Then she says her family are immigrants and that they are now being denied the American dream by the federal and local government. Well, that is one view. I guess that there are good immigrants and there are some not so good immigrants. Or it is the "close the barn door after you get in" theory of immigration. And how about the ageist remark about her husband having to listen or take anything from someone younger than him. Gee, I hope he never had a boss younger than him at GM. They are promoting young people up the ranks all the time.

And if I may, I am tired of the tea party using the term "patriot" as if they have some corner on it. There is nothing Mrs. Smith, that is patriotic about creating a poster that depicts the head of the President of the United States on a spear that is patriotic. No way, no how.

I would venture to say that if her husband and family have had the life that she described, then they did and are living the American dream. Higher education, good jobs, home ownership, pension from GM, veteran benefits, social security and medicare, perhaps even healthcare from GM. So, for the young workers that will never get a pension or healthcare from their employers or possibly ever collect SS or medicare the Smith's are sitting pretty good. And for the immigrants trying to come to America to have a life like the Smith's and are being vilified just for wanting the SAME things that the Smith family have enjoyed. And for the gay community, they just want the American dream of freely being good partners and parents, just like the Smiths. And for women across this country, that want opportunity and respect for working hard and reaching high office in the land (like former Speaker Pelosi), paving the way so that one day perhaps the Smith's daughter might grow up to be Governor or President... only to have her head on a poster in a noose or on a spear surrounded by hateful, 1st Amendment makes it ok to say, speak.
The American dream for some is a closed club. When it is denied to any Americans that seek it, then it is not a dream, it is a nightmare.

  6. This woman is not just a disgusting example of bigotry, she is crazy as a loon.

We do know your husband, and you now, Mrs. Smith. And the sight of the two of you carrying those signs makes us want to vomit.

There's an old saying...time wounds all heels. Never truer.

  7. Her defense of her husband reminds me of watching the TV news when someone commits a horrible criminal act, they always seem to find someone who says "he was a great guy, he drove his mother to church and helped me fix my car". OK, but what about what he did?

    1. You left out " He made some mistakes in the past but he was turning his life around". Often heard when the "victim" has been shot by fellow criminals.

In this case neither Smith thinks THEY have made any mistakes.
