Daniels' friend Tom McMillin is the King Homophobe of Michigan

Janice is just his little queen.
McMillin sponsored a faux civil rights bill, House Bill 5039 that will be back up for discussion on Jan. 31, 2012, this Tuesday.
McMillin (of Rochester Hills) wants to gut ALL LOCAL ANTI-DISCRIMINATION ordinances to guarantee that LGBT people can never be a "protected class" in Michigan.
This is the unwise man who wanted an anti-bullying bill that protected everyone except gay youth in our schools, even though gay kids are among the single most bullied and vulnerable youth in our schools.
Here's a great story about it from WDIV.
By the way, McMillin raises the specter of gay rights being bad for Boy Scouts - however, the Boy Scouts are a private organization that is not affected by any public protections for gay people. He just says that to stir up trouble.
Write your state congress people and tell them Michigan does NOT want to be notorious as the most bigoted state in the country!

  1. This looks like more government to me, not less. Ridiculously unneccesary, I'll be writing to my state congressman.

  2. So, let's see, Representative McMillin thinks the best way to protect a segment of the population from discrimination is to make another segment of the population vulnerable and unprotected from discrimination. I think McMillin is a bully and a thug trying to use Christianity as an excuse to take away the civil liberties of those with whom he dislikes. FYI, Rep. McMillin, that is something Jesus would definitely not do. I will be contacting my representative to make sure your proposed bill has no chance in passing.

  3. Rep McMillan(R-KochBros) says the local ordinances are discriminating against Christians and Boy Scouts. He is wrong. Intolerant religious and social views held by the Boy Scouts force the public policy issues and are why the Boy Scouts no longer have access to public facilities. As currently constituted and run, the Boy Scouts should have no access to the facilities or any other form of endorsement or assistance from any government body or public school. The Boy Scouts should be treated in the same way as the Ku Klux Klan or any Neo Nazi organization would be.

The Boy Scouts are responsible for their own problems.
What is causing trouble for the Boy Scouts is the organization's long history of being infiltrated and excessively influenced by right wing religious organizations. Two in particular are the Mormons and the Catholics. Both churches are hierarchical and virulently anti gay.

The Boy Scouts also need to admit and deal with the organization's long history of ignoring sex abuse perpetrated and covered up by its leaders. The similarities to the Catholic Church's denial and enabling of sexual offenders are obvious. The evidence is clear when the hidden files are actually called the "perversion files".

Boy Scouts failed to report abuser

Turley is one of more than 5,000 suspected child molesters named in confidential files kept by the Boy Scouts of America. The documents — called the "perversion files" by the organization — include unsubstantiated tips as well as admissions of guilt.

Those records have surfaced in recent years in lawsuits by former Scouts, accusing the group of failing to exclude known pedophiles, detect abuses or turn in offenders to the police.

The Oregon Supreme Court is now weighing a request by newspapers, a wire service and broadcasters to open about 1,200 more files in the wake of a nearly $20-million judgment in a Portland sex abuse case last year.

Rep McMillan would do his constituents a service by actually doing something about the real problem; but for some reason, he is blind and cannot see.

    1. I apologize for misspelling Rep. McMillin's name. Spellcheck autocorrected and I didn't realize it.
