Who Is Glenn Clark?

Successful elections of people like Janice Daniels don't happen by accident. It takes careful planning, with strategic thinking and moneyed resources to win.

In other words, there have to be people behind Janice, supporting her, coaching her, and egging her on.

These supporters claim that they are simple "citizen activists," claiming to be political neophytes, simply roused by governmental abuse and working to take government back. They say they want tax money returned to the taxpayers, where the free market will decide it's use.

One of Janice's supporters who describes himself as a simple "citizen activist," is Glenn Clark. [WMV link, go to 1:20:54]

But who is Glenn Clark?

You can watch an interview with him here, where you could listen to him talk about his resume. If you don't want to waste a half-hour, he explains that he is no simple "citizen activist." He's a long-time political hack who has been:
  • The Board President of the Detroit Merit Charter Academy;
  • Policy Chairman of the Michigan Republican party;
  • Executive Director of the Michigan Christian Coalition, where he claimed to be a"pro-family lobbyist;
  • Second Vice-Chairman of the Michigan College Republicans;
  • State Chairman of the Michigan Teenage Republicans;
  • A member of the 2004 national platform committee delegate for the Republican national Committee, and;
  • Chairman of the 9th District Congressional Republican Party.
Most recently, Mr. Clark became the President of the Michigan chapter of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, founded by Ralph Reed. (For anyone not familiar with Mr. Reed, his association with the Jack Abramoff scandal is a good place to start.)

So is Mr. Clark as "small government, let the taxpayer keep their money" kind of guy?

Not quite.

First, the Detroit Merit Charter School is a member of the National Heritage Academies, a for-profit school management organization located in Grand Rapids. Where does the NHA get it's money? From the taxpayer, of course. Mr. Clark admits to being on the public dole at 1:33 in this interview.

And it's not the first time that Mr. Clark has helped himself to your money. While working as a political consultant for Paul Scott's failed campaign for Secretary of State, Mr. Clark received $13,000.00 [PDF, see pg. 03] for being a "legislative aide." [PDF link.] Joe DiSano, of Michigan Liberal, has been questioning the propriety of Mr. Clark's work for Paul Scott and asked the Michigan House to investigate.

Capcon, the news service from the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, speculated that if Mr. Scott paid Mr. Clark taxpayer dollars to do campaign work instead of official legislative business, such conduct could constitute a felony.

But just what kind of campaign work does Mr. Clark do? Apparently, Mr. Clark specializes in techniques so vile that one of the campaigns he worked on became known as the "Macomb County Chainsaw Massacre."

You see, after the 2010 Macomb County Senate campaign, former state Rep. Kim Meltzer apologized for lying and using vile campaign literature against her opponent, Leon Drolet. (Meltzer accused Drolet of co-sponsoring a bill "that would have allowed sexual acts between homosexuals in public places, public parks and public restrooms.")

Who did Drolet blame for the nastiness of the campaign? Glenn Clark. Drolet was quoted as saying that Mr. Clark has a "long history of specializing in reckless, gay-oriented smears" and "McCarthy-like tactics."

Finally, as Chairman of the 9th District Republican Party, Mr. Clark earned a nasty reputation. Here's how the Two Guys Named Joe podcast, described Mr. Clark's tactics and financial conflicts of interest:

(You can listen to the complete podcast by clicking here.)

So when you see Mr. Clark at a City Council meeting claiming to be a "citizen activist" who wants small government, don't believe him. In fact, you should recognize him for what he is: A long time political hack, dedicated to using government for personal profit, advancing his agenda through lies and defamation, and responsible for inflicting Janice Daniels on this city.

Detroit News: Troy mayor calls gay lifestyle 'dangerous,' but doesn't mention mental illness

The Detroit News coverage of the latest Janice Daniels' scandal.

And as if I have to explain how insulting what she DID say is... This idea of "homosexual lifestyle" is awful and archaic. She said that to a gay woman who is with a life partner and has two children with her. Is THAT the dangerous lifestyle she's alluding to??? To think that gay people all have the same "lifestyle" is stereotypical hogwash, and thus, right up Daniels' alley. And by the way, it's not a lifestyle, it's an orientation.

Tape: Troy mayor calls gay lifestyle 'dangerous,' but doesn't mention mental illness

Troy — While discussing plans for a suicide prevention forum, Mayor Janice Daniels told a diversity-promoting group this month that she would recruit experts to speak about the "dangerous" homosexual lifestyle.
But a newly released audio recording of the meeting reveals Daniels did not call homosexuality a mental illness, as first suggested by one attendee.
The recording of the Jan. 9 exchange occurred during Daniels' office hours at the Troy Community Center. The tape, obtained by The Detroit News through the Freedom of Information Act, includes a heated debate over plans for a suicide and bullying prevention event suggested by members of Troy High School's gay-straight alliance.
The group had been urging Daniels to get involved after she gained national media attention for her use of the word "queer" in a Facebook posting in June 2011.
Skye Curtis, 17, a leader of the student group, initially claimed she heard the mayor say she would recruit a psychiatrist for the event who would explain that homosexuality is a "mental disease." Curtis later said in an online blog that she misheard the mayor's comment. Curtis could not be immediately reached Monday.
In the recording, Daniels told Curtis and Amy Weber, a youth mentor supporting the group, that she was planning to recommend a separate, city-sponsored suicide prevention seminar.
Daniels said she wanted to bring together the city, schools, advocacy organizations and family counselors to "make sure people of all ages never consider suicide as an option."
Weber and the students had shown up for Daniels' office hours to urge her to participate in the youth project after they claimed her use of the gay slur upset some students.
The mayor responded by saying: "If I do, I'm not sure any of you will be satisfied… I will bring in psychiatrists who will tell you that the homosexual lifestyle is dangerous."
Daniels could not be reached Monday.

Don't think Tom McMillin is bringing shame to Michigan?

Lookee here.
Mind you he may not have all his facts right, but Colbert hits harder on this issue than anyone I've ever seen.
And for those of you who aren't familiar with Colbert, this is satire. He is pretending to be a Janice Daniels/Tom McMillin type.

Troy City Manager John Szerlag responds to Daniels' "ludicrous" and libelous "Position Paper"

The city manager responds.
Thanks again to the person who posted these. They can be downloaded here.
01 16 12 - To Mayor Janice Danies - Response to Your January 7 2012 Position Paper
Janice Daniels heroically flawed "Position Paper" in which she takes the side of Grand Sakwa AGAINST the people and city of Troy and bashes city staff for doing their jobs properly.
Let's understand something that Ms. Daniels doesn't seem to know. Grand Sakwa was trying to leverage Ms. Daniels' ideology to their own wants.
Grand Sakwa gave Troy that 2 acres as a quid pro quo on a zoning agreement they made with the city 12 years ago. Of course Grand Sakwa would have done anything to convince citizens and naive mayor alike that the plans were no good. Why? Because if we failed to build the transit center, Grand Sakwa would have gotten their land back.
Ms. Daniels took the side of Grand Sakwa AGAINST Troy and its citizens.

Big thanks to the person who put it online here

The many scandals of Janice Daniels

from John in Comments

Janice will never be part of the solution because she believes everyone else is the problem. Scandals so far:
1) Referring to the City Charter as a "whimsical" document.
2) Slandering marriage equality on Facebook and then being forced to apologize.
3) Attempting to derail the transit center project by allowing an "expert" extra time to speak at council even after the "expert" was caught making racist comments on Facebook. 4) Publicly attacking the city manager in a 20 minute screed, which violated city council's rules.
5) Further attacking gay people by declaring the homosexual lifestyle "dangerous."
Any bets on what she'll do next? Maybe burn the community center down?

And a note from me--
If you listen to Janice Daniels, she will try to convince you that she has done nothing wrong and that all of this wickedness is political fiction made up by her political enemies.
But her enemies had nothing to do with her:
1) refusing to take a proper oath of office,
2) calling the Troy Charter a whimsical document,
3) bringing a parade of bigots before council to stand up for her ideologies,
4) her unfounded, inaccurate attack on city staff and the city manager in particular
5) her naivete in thinking she "owns" mail sent to the Mayor of Troy and that it is her "personal" mail,
6) her embarrassing behavior with kids in our schools (do we want her near our schools?), in which she sees nothing wrong with telling vulnerable kids that their"lifestyle is dangerous" and requesting the names of children who said her behavior has made them feel suicidal,
7) her embarrassing behavior with the media,
8) her glaring errors running city council meetings (she went to every meeting for two years! you'd think she'd have learned SOMETHING!).

So next time you hear Queen Janice strike up the violins about her victimhood, remember that 99% of her wounds are self-inflicted.

This is not a gay rights blog

This is a pro-everyone's rights blog. Because when people like Janice Daniels try to demonize and marginalize entire populations of citizens, we should stop them. If you don't stop them from attacking your neighbor, who will stop them from coming after you?

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak out because I was Protestant.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Janice's Meeting with the Gay/Straight Student Alliance

Due to popular demand, this is the complete recording of Janice Daniels' meeting with member of Troy High's Gay/Straight Student Alliance.

Daniels' friend Tom McMillin is the King Homophobe of Michigan

Janice is just his little queen.
McMillin sponsored a faux civil rights bill, House Bill 5039 that will be back up for discussion on Jan. 31, 2012, this Tuesday.
McMillin (of Rochester Hills) wants to gut ALL LOCAL ANTI-DISCRIMINATION ordinances to guarantee that LGBT people can never be a "protected class" in Michigan.
This is the unwise man who wanted an anti-bullying bill that protected everyone except gay youth in our schools, even though gay kids are among the single most bullied and vulnerable youth in our schools.
Here's a great story about it from WDIV.
By the way, McMillin raises the specter of gay rights being bad for Boy Scouts - however, the Boy Scouts are a private organization that is not affected by any public protections for gay people. He just says that to stir up trouble.
Write your state congress people and tell them Michigan does NOT want to be notorious as the most bigoted state in the country!

72%-want-a-recall Pollster appears on radio to discuss Janice Daniels

People outside of Troy are well aware of our mayor and her ridiculousness.
The discussion of Troy starts around 3:00.

What did Janice Daniels really say? Here's part of the recording

On January 9, Troy mayor Janice Daniels held her office hours and said something incendiary about gay people, yet again.
When a student called her on it, the mayor said she never said those words. So it turns out she didn't say one horrific thing, but she did say another horrific thing.
TV stations and newspapers FOIAed the recording Janice Daniels made at the meeting but until yesterday, would not release.
Hear what really happened in this video which contains an uncut portion of the hour-long recording...

Free Press: Troy mayor didn't link gays and mental illness, but she called lifestyle dangerous

from today's Free Press:

Troy Mayor Janice Daniels did not draw a connection between homosexuality and mental illness during a meeting in January, but she did indicate that she believes the homosexual lifestyle is dangerous.

Daniels was accused by Troy High School senior Skye Curtis, who attended the meeting, of saying that she would gather "a panel of psychologists who would testify that homosexuality is a mental disease."

That accusation put the mayor's views on homosexuality back in the spotlight after a Facebook controversy last year over her use of the term "queers."

In an interview after the meeting, Daniels denied making the statement about mental illness, saying instead that there's a higher incidence of overall disease in the homosexual community.

But a recording of the meeting, released to the Free Press on Friday based on a Freedom of Information Act request to the city, provides the actual exchange about plans for an event in the city pitched at various times as an anti-bullying or anti-suicide seminar.

Daniels said she would "bring in psychiatrists who will tell you that the homosexual lifestyle is dangerous."

Daniels asked in a phone message on Friday that questions be e-mailed to her but had not responded Friday night.

Zach Kilgore, 17, a member of Troy High School's Gay-Straight Alliance who attended the meeting, said that Curtis has already backed away from the mental illness accusation, but he noted that the mayor's comments are troubling nonetheless. Curtis, who is the co-president of the alliance, could not be reached.

"What she still said is not in the mainstream view of the health experts," Kilgore said of Daniels. "When she clarified her statements, she said homosexuals have more diseases, and that's not true."

New Poll: 72% of Troy voters want Janice Daniels RECALLED!

Troy Voters Overwhelming Support Recall of Tea Party Mayor

Lansing, Michigan--- If a recall election were held today in the city of Troy
involving Mayor Janice Daniels, nearly three-quarters of voters would choose to
oust her from office, according to a recent poll of voters in that city. The poll
conducted by Lansing-based political consulting firm Main Street Strategies and
commissioned by found 72% of voters surveyed support
recalling Daniels from office.
“Mayor Daniels has given the voters of Troy the biggest case of buyer’s remorse
I have ever seen,” said consultant Joe DiSano of Main Street Strategies. “Mayor
Daniels’ Tea Party agenda has polarized the voters of Troy. Her repeated attacks
on gays have badly damaged her public standing and voters clearly regret
supporting her last fall. The results of this survey demonstrate a recall of Mayor
Daniels will find deep public support and would overwhelming succeed.”
“Mayor Daniels has taken what is supposed to be a largely ceremonial position
and instead turned it into a lightning rod for controversy … why wouldn’t anyone
expect voters to object to that,” said Michigan Liberal owner and editor Eric
Baerren. “She picked a fight with homosexuals on Facebook, and then she
picked a fight with minorities with her opposition to the transit center, and finally
she has picked a fight with her city’s professional public servants. She’s a
running source of embarrassment for the city of Troy, metro Detroit and the state
of Michigan as a whole.”
Seventy-six percent of those polled hold a disapproving view of Daniels, a
contrast from her narrow victory last fall in what was widely considered an upset
victory. Her time in office has been notable for several controversies included
Facebook postings attacking gays, opposing the construction of a Transit Center
and a running feud with the City Manager.

Daniels' recommendation for Planning Commission? Another from her coterie of anti-government, anti-Detroit, anti-Chinese gentlemen friends

Another grumpy man?

My open letter to Janice Daniels

Mayor Daniels,

Your latest press release is outrageous.

You imply that a teenager lied about you and sullied your "good name."

But you know this is not true. Sure she apologized for getting the exact offensive words you said incorrect, but she didn't say you did nothing.

By your own admission, you said something stupid, insensitive and repugnant.

From the Free Press:

While discussing plans for a forum on bullying and suicide, Daniels told students she wanted to invite "a panel of psychologists who would testify that homosexuality is a mental disease," said Skye Curtis, 17, a senior and co-president of the Gay-Straight Alliance at the school.
Daniels denied making the comment.

"What I said was, there's a higher incidence of (overall) disease in the homosexual community," Daniels said. She said she taped the meeting and had reviewed her statements after the meeting. She declined to play the tape for the Free Press.

How is it you don't understand that what you admitted to saying was just as grotesque as what you denied saying?

And in that your offer was to bring in a panel of psychologists -- something you said at a council meeting as well, mentioning Perspectives of Troy by name -- what other diseases besides "mental" ones could you have possibly meant?

The only thing more astonishing than your insensitivity is your lack of knowledge about most things you talk about in public.

Leave that girl alone!

And if you insist on your "innocence," release the audio recording you made, which will prove exactly what you said. There are only two reasons that you could possibly refuse to release it: 1) it proves that you said terrible things to those students or 2) you erased it long ago, and have thereby broken the law.

You can't be proud to be the first mayor of Troy
  • to refuse to allow city staff to open your mail,
  • to record all meetings with staff and CITIZENS (in order to intimidate?),
  • to know virtually nothing about the city you were elected to lead, and
  • to read a 20-minute anti-staff diatribe, out-of-order, during a council meeting.
What on earth is wrong with you!?

Stop your abuses of power!
Stop insulting the citizens you are meant to serve!
Stop abusing the city staff!
Stop putting yourself before the people!

And if you can't stop all that, then PLEASE stop being mayor.

Sharon MacDonell
Troy, MI

Release the audio recording, Troy Mayor Janice Daniels!

After all this time, and multiple FOIA's asking for its release (which the mayor is now required by law to do), Mayor Daniels continues to refuse to release the audio that will either prove or disprove that she said something bigoted and stupid to high school children.

Considering her refusal, all bets are on bigoted and stupid.

Troy High Gay-Straight Alliance, City Council Members Urge Mayor to Release Recording

Janice Daniels denies making another anti-gay remark while meeting with the group Monday, but she won't share the audio to prove it.

January 10, 2012

Members of the Troy High School Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) are urging Troy Mayor Janice Daniels, who first made headlines with her anti-gay Facebook post last month, to release her audio recording of a comment she made during a meeting with the group Monday afternoon.

The meeting was meant to help the two groups reach an understanding while planning an anti-bullying event together, but during a discussion about mental health, members of the Gay-Straight Alliance and their supporters say Daniels told them she would bring in a panel of psychologists to show that homosexuality is dangerous to one's mental health.

“There were a lot of disturbing things that were said in that meeting," said GSA member and Troy High School senior Skye Curtis.

Daniels denied making the comment Monday evening, saying, "That is a misrepresentation entirely. ... I never said that."

During Monday evening's City Council meeting, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) activist Amy Weber said during public comment that she would like the mayor to release her audio recording of the meeting at the community center and asked to file a Freedom of Information Act request for the recording.

Since Monday, at least six individuals associated with the GSA have filed a FOIA, Curtis said.

“She did say very hurtful things," said Zach Kilgore, a Troy High School junior and member of the school's Gay-Straight Alliance. "We asked the mayor to release the audio recording of the meeting so people can hear what was said.”

MLive: Troy City Manager John Szerlag refutes Mayor Janice Daniels' transit center 'position paper'

I have to love Jeff Wattrick. I'm so busy trying to keep up with Janice Daniels' scandals -- I believe we are already on #6 -- that I'm getting behind.
But low and behold, he has done the analysis I had hoped to do today, comparing Janice Daniels' manifesto against Troy, to City Manager John Szerlag's response to it.
He certainly draws the same conclusion 95% of us who know about her have....
If you wanted to sum up Troy Mayor Janice Daniels few months in office, you would probably need to use the phrase “out of her depth.”

If anyone had any lingering doubts about this fact, a letter from Troy City Manager John Szerlag to the most honorable mayor settles the matter.

Responding to Daniels' rambling 20-page statement—including a passage explaining that she has a First Amendment right to compose such a statement—about the Troy Transit Center plan, Szerlag refuted Daniels point-by-point in a manner that suggests Daniels has no idea how things actually work in the city she governs.

Szerlag letter: In paragraph two of your paper you indicate that Troy City Management has been politically one sided in support of the transit project. This statement is false. As City Manager, I do not work for you. As point in fact, I do not work for any individual council member. I work for a governing body; and the only time a governing body can speak is through its resolutions at a City Council meeting. City Management then carries out policy directives in accordance with council resolutions and ordinances, something we have done for the past ten years with regard to the transit center. And if any individual Council member disagrees with what the majority of City Council desires, it must be taken up with them at a Council meeting, and not with me.

He goes on to debunk some of Daniels’ most baseless assertions with a patience of kindergarten teacher trying to explain something complicated to an over-stimulated five-year-old.
Oh do read more here...

Why shouldn't Janice Daniels pretend she didn't do what she did?

Tea Partiers all over the country are trying to re-write history as it suits them...

From a friend...

Tea Party Groups In Tennessee Demand Textbooks Overlook U.S. Founder's Slave-Owning History
A little more than a year after the conservative-led state board of education in Texas approved massive changes to its school textbooks to put slavery in a more positive light, a group of Tea Party activists in Tennessee has renewed its push to whitewash school textbooks. The group is seeking to remove references to slavery and mentions of the country's founders being slave owners.

According to reports, Hal Rounds, the Fayette County attorney and spokesman for the group, said during a recent news conference that there has been "an awful lot of made-up criticism about, for instance, the founders intruding on the Indians or having slaves or being hypocrites in one way or another."

"The thing we need to focus on about the founders is that, given the social structure of their time, they were revolutionaries who brought liberty into a world where it hadn't existed, to everybody -- not all equally instantly -- and it was their progress that we need to look at," Rounds said, according to The Commercial Appeal. [I'm sure Native Americans are looking forward to the day!]

During the news conference more than two dozen Tea Party activists handed out material that said, "Neglect and outright ill will have distorted the teaching of the history and character of the United States. We seek to compel the teaching of students in Tennessee the truth regarding the history of our nation and the nature of its government."

Mayor Daniels - Release the recording!

Janice Daniels will stop at nothing, not even lying about statements by 17-year-old girls, to try to protect her sorry self.
Members of the community of Troy have filed a Freedom of Information Act asking for the release of the recording Daniels made at this meeting with high school students that proves exactly what she said to them. She has so far refused to do so.
According to DANIELS, she said, "What I said was, there's a higher incidence of (overall) disease in the homosexual community."
How dare she now pretend that she said nothing offensive!?
She is a selfish liar and it is time for her to release the recording, or better yet, leave the people of Troy alone and STEP DOWN!

It's time for Janice Daniels to step down!

Janice Daniels cannot stop from doing stupid embarrassing things and yes, I'm talking about something NEW!
Early this month, a high school student said Daniels said that homosexuality is "mental disease." Soon after the student took that back. Ironically, when Daniels explained to the Free Press what she had ACTUALLY said, it was just as bad.
From the Detroit Free Press:
While discussing plans for a forum on bullying and suicide, Daniels told students she wanted to invite "a panel of psychologists who would testify that homosexuality is a mental disease," said Skye Curtis, 17, a senior and co-president of the Gay-Straight Alliance at the school.
Daniels denied making the comment.

"What I said was, there's a higher incidence of (overall) disease in the homosexual community," Daniels said. She said she taped the meeting and had reviewed her statements after the meeting. She declined to play the tape for the Free Press.
That did not get Daniels off the hook! What she ADMITTED to saying was just as ignorant and repugnant.
So now what has she done? She is throwing the girl under the bus.
Today, apparently, Daniels has sent out a new press release:
"A meeting was held to develop the preliminary outline for an outreach seminar to discuss the unthinkable act of committing suicide as an option to solve any of life's many challenges and problems.

This meeting ended on good terms with hand shaking and compliments paid; however, one of the high school students chose to go on to Facebook and post a false and highly inflammatory statement that she claimed I made. She has subsequently removed the inaccurate statement from Facebook and has issued a written heartfelt apology. I truly accept her apology even though in the meanwhile the damage had been done.

Now that this inaccuracy has been corrected I would encourage all citizens of Troy to participate in our legislative process so that we can move our beautiful city forward in a fiscally responsible, productive and conciliatory manner.

Mayor Janice L. Daniels"
This message attempts to tell the reader that the student made it all up, in spte of what Daniels admitted to the Free Press as above.

A student leader who was at the meeting and is a friend of the girl responded this way tonight:
Unfortunately for the city, once again, the mayor is making false statements. First of all, the meeting was not held "to develop the preliminary outline." What actually happened was, at the previous meeting we had with her, we decided to hold an anti-bullying event. She told us she would email us with dates and more details. She didn't. At least three people emailed her and she was also called, but she did not respond. For this reason, Amy Weber, who I had asked to speak at the event, went to the mayor's office hours without the mayor's knowledge to figure out what was going on. Mrs. Weber told me she was going, so Skye and I went too, but arrived late because school had just gotten out.

The next fabrication is when she states that the event was meant to be "an outreach seminar to discuss the unthinkable act of committing suicide..." Although suicide would be talked about, the main point of the event was to raise awareness of bullying in Troy. The mayor agreed to speak about her initial Facebook post on the condition that she would also give her side of the story. There was never any doubt that she was going to speak about the post at the event.

"The meeting ended on good terms..." Maybe they were good terms for her, but by the end of the meeting, we made it clear that we were no longer working with her on the event as the terms had changed.

Now, the apology that the mayor is referring to was in a message written by Skye sent to the mayor's city email address. The email was very personal and contained many private details that were only included to help the mayor understand where Skye was coming from. In response, the mayor said her apology was accepted, but then sent another email to her requesting that she read her very personal email out loud at a city council meeting. With this request, the mayor asked Skye to do something very degrading that would have brought incredible emotional turmoil to an already overwhelmed 17 year old girl. As a fellow student, I see the mayor's action as an abuse of power, if not just another clear example of her being out of touch with the mood of the city.

I must also add that, yes, Skye made a mistake when she said the mayor said homosexuality was a mental illness. However, the mayor did say "the homosexual lifestyle is dangerous." She later explained that there is a higher rate of diseases in the homosexual community. This claim is just as scientifically unfounded and degrading.

Again, I call on the mayor to release the recording. The public deserves to know what she has said and done on the taxpayer's dime.

"Yes Man"

I've decided this posting wasn't fair.
To second a motion for discussion doesn't approve of the ultimate goal of a resolution or idea being put forth, it simply opens up discussion.
I'll admit when I'm not being fair, and I apologize to Dave Henderson.

Well, now people in the know are informing me that a council member should only second if one is in agreement with a motion, and since you didn't know enough to agree with the motion, Dave, you really were not being honest, but rather overly obsequious to the mayor.

I guess we all have a lot to learn.

And as for you saying this blog is a witch hunt, I would say, I have a right to speak the truth about a mayor who, in the two years before winning the office, was a rude, spiteful and dishonest member of the community who did her best to insult, belittle and accuse council members and staff for things they DID NOT DO.

At least I write the truth.

It is said I smear the mayor. But if by quoting her I am smearing her... well, I guess that means she is smearing herself.

Why does Rochester's Tom McMillin want to curb rights of gay people?

Because rules that give rights to gay people are used to discriminate against Christians.
Oh yes he did!

“I’ve been somewhat active throughout the years in trying to stop some of these special-rights ordinances for homosexual behavior, and noticed they’re often used to discriminate against Christians,” McMillin said, according to a report on, an affiliate of Focus on the Family.

Fit for office???

In August of 2011, Citizen Janice Daniels wrote that governmental representatives must have training and even be licensed and bonded and brilliant about all matters Constitutional and governmental.
Why just lookee here, all her great ideas from one of her many tea party rants, space courtesy of the Oakland Press.

This is an enormous amount of responsibility that we honor those elected representatives with, and yet the men and women who take an Oath to protect and defend the United States Constitution and/or State Constitutions have absolutely zero requirements to have any level of knowledge of those constitutions or the founding documents that support them. Some of us believe that this is a big part of the regulatory problem in this country and the time has come to fix it.
Our fix is called Public Act 1 – Constitutional Compliance. This initiative states that all officers are to have a similar level of scrutiny, testing, bonding and licensing requirements for verification of their ability to perform the duties of their elected offices or public trust before placing their names on a ballot for election or before consideration for appointment or otherwise to an office where they are required to take an oath to the State and/or National Constitution. Just to keep things honest, there will be a provision within this law that precludes government officials from giving themselves any right to seek waiver or to redefine the rules set up for these educational and licensing requirements, which will be administered solely by the private sector.
Our desire with PA-1 is that we will force our elected representatives to learn about the constitutional checks and balances placed upon the three branches of government that were designed to limit each others power. Our goal is to reverse the current trend of these three branches simply being three difference colored foxes all supposedly guarding the same citizenry hen house.

Imagine, all that written by a woman who every meeting proves she knows nothing about budgets, nothing about staffing, nothing about labor, nothing about laws, and can't even figure out how to run a city council meeting...
I guess she was right. These people should be forced to know something before they take office.
Too bad, as usual, she doesn't listen to her own advice.

Today in Rochester - Protest against the Anti-gay mastermind in Michigan

Mysteriously, fanatically anti-gay state Rep McMillin

Just like the deplorable Civil Rights Initiative backed by Doug Tietz in 2008 that was ANTI-civil rights, this bill aims to lock up our definitions of who desrves to be protected to 1976 standards -- the point? To make sure gay people are never a protected class in Michigan.
Tom McMillin - why are you so obsessed about hurting gay people?

Resident to Ask Rochester Hills Leaders to Oppose Civil Rights Bill

House Bill 5039, proposed by state Rep. Tom McMillin, would stop cities from extending special rights to gays and lesbians.
A Rochester Hills man is expected tonight to ask city leaders to help him oppose a law proposed by the city's state representative — a law he says would "roll back civil rights."
Tim Maurer has been working to urge Rochester Hills leaders to oppose House Bill 5039, a measure proposed in October by state Rep. Tom McMillin (R-Rochester Hills). The bill would prohibit municipalities from extending special rights to those not covered by the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act of 1976.
The Elliott-Larsen Act protects people on the basis of religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, weight, height, familial or marital status. But it does not offer protection on the basis of sexual orientation.

Funny how those with so much to say about the "evils" of gay marriage

Haven't done very well with their own...
And yes, this includes those in Troy as well.
