We fought the good fight, but we lost the effort to save our library by 51% to 49%. Out of 30,000 votes cast, we lost by less than 700 votes. Our very noisy and unethical opposition promised all along that they wanted to save the library as much as we did, they just wanted to do it differently.
So now Troy residents must look to Troy Citizens United and their leaders to save the library.
Think they'll do it?
I am embarrassed to live in Troy this morning, but I love the new friends I've made and adore the 49% who ignored the lies and the noise and did the right thing. The idea that our library will be mothballed next July makes me sick.
